The 2006 IFDS Blind Sailing World Championship The regatta was held at Newport Rhode Island, 20 -27 September 2006, and sailed in Sonars for B1 and B2 divisions and J22s for B3.

Conditions for the regatta were first class and the race organisers are to be commended on their event and race organisation. Blind Sailing International would like to thank The New York Yacht Club and the team led by Lyn and Peggy comfort for their sterling effort in crossing all the hurdles that were brought to them by teams from ten nations.

The B1 division was hotly contested with the whole fleet crossing the line within a matter of boat lengths, never much more than 5 or six lengths between all finishers

The winners were Norway from New Zealand in second and USA Massachusetts in third place.

The B2 division was hotly contested between New Zealand the eventual winners and Great Britain, second place and third was USA Massachusetts.

USA Florida dominated the B3 division and wer followed by Great Britian in second place and New Zealand Third.

The Squaron Cup for overall Team performance was won by New Zealand.
